Did any of you see the half-time show last night? Ashley Simpson put on another career ending performance! I thought that there would be some conversation about it today, but I have not seen any mention of it anywhere! It was more painful than watching her on SNL... Kelly Clarkston's drummer dropped a stick as the director cut to a shot behind his kit, which was pretty humorous as well! Any thoughts?

I heard the mix was bad too. Kelly Clarkson's not-so-talented back-up singers mics were at a higher volume than Kelly's. Did anyone else hear or notice that?

Yes, Kelly started the show & her mic wasn't even in the mix...[after announcing that Ashlee would end the show, this was ironically appropo]. [img]eek.gif[/img] [img]wink.gif[/img] Them you could hear a sound tech say [cutting in over the perf], "test - 1,2, 1, 2" b4 they got her mic up. [img]graemlins/hmmm.gif[/img]
Funny, during AS's perf, the verses had these drum machine sampled dance drum sounds, then the choruses had full on rockin' acou kit...i thought maybe the drumr was pantomiming to the track, as no triggers were evident in the good drum angle shots. & the cam did indeed cut to him right when he dropped a stick. And the huge crowd boo'd AS b4 & aft her perf...unbelievable; a horrid documenation. & she indeed cannot hold a note. Better off taking all the $ it's taking to float her career & sock it away / invest. She'll be better off. I'm terribly embarrassed for her. I wouldve told all the hangers on to take a hike after the SNL debaucle.
Terribly written songs for the silly, soak-up-any-BS-they-shove-down-my-throat kiddie fare on all 3 "artists" [well, at least Kelly is by legal def a real "singer" ;c)]...Trace Adkins' tune was low in range & sounded dreadful...& the tune flat out sucked anyway...pandering mush, once again.
Overall, THE worst 1/2-time i've EVAR witnessed. Right down to the silly choreography broadway show dance numbers....music & entertainment for the bubble-gum crowd. And BAD at that. [img]graemlins/thumbs_down.gif[/img]

Why did Kenny Aronoff do that album anyway? Ashlee has and always will be a puppet. Thats what pop is these days. It's a sad thing... Why the hell did Lindsay Lohan do an album anyways??! Lohans "perfomence" is on that lipsync also. Now paris hilton nicole richie.... and they will make more money at it then 90% of real musicians which I just don't get.
I felt nervous watching this, like when a friend goes off in a social setting--SHUT UP & sit down...please!
I did notice the background vocals on Clarkson's number. It was weird...at least he was in tune.

The rational mind is dazed & confuzed here! Think of all the "education" given to our young people and the principles about how to make a living, ect. Then the application to all of this, as seen by our youth is Ashleee Simpson [img]frown.gif[/img]
I work w/kids a lot and the influence of these "young ladies" is immense.
Hey, David Cassidy gigged stadiums in the early 70's all the time--and he did it while doing a TV series. That was the 70's! Wassup today?

She is awful -- no questions about it -- I can't explain her -- she can't sing.
That said, there are a lot of performers out there -- making a lot of money and getting a lot of attention who can't sing. And certainly have difficulty singing live.* The music industry rewards look (no new insight here) not ability.
